I use fixed IP addresses on network printers here with no problem at all.
To me it's more "logical" have a stationary target as opposed to a moving
target for your clients to find.
Just reserve a few IP addresses from the DHCP scope and use them as static
IP addresses.
I use Jet direct, no problems.
