I have three root domain controllers on my net. Im trying to demote one of them and bring it back up as multimaster DC for one of the two renaining DC
When demoting, dcpromo ask if this is the last DC on the domain (Im thinking ROOT), I check the box indicating that it is
Then after putting in my password and selecting next to start the deomotion I get an error message saying "This server is not the last Domain Controller on the domain"
Now I know I have two other DC, but they are root DC. Does this matter?

Any feedback pleas

Use that check box if DC is the last DC in domain. In your case it is not so
you have to leave that checkbox blank and procede with themotion of only
that DC.

Hmm, I'm confused, you have three root DC, you want to demote one, so you
can make it a multimaster for the remaning two?
All Win2k DCs are multimaster if there is more than one DC in a domain. Some
just may hold different FSMO roles.
Are they all three not in the same root domain, or is this the root of the
forrest and the other two are in different domains in the forrest?
Or are the other two child domains of this forest root?
If this is the forest root and the other two are children, then you cannot
demote this forrrest root if it is the only DC in the forrest root.
Please clarify, like is this a.com and the other two b.com, or is this a.com
and the other two are in a.a.com.
