am attempting a dcpromo of a server which is to be first in a child domain.

schema / configuration NC's seem to replicate ok but for some reason it is
attempting to generate an object

CN=INT (child domain name), CN=Partitions,CN=configuration, DC=........

first view is that CN=partitions looks like a bit out of place given that
the parent DC's and the child server is at windows 2000 sp3

dcpromo.log is reporting ntds error 8366

any clues

sorted !!

did a "reset" of Global catalog on the domain naming master and all seems
well

seems a right funny message though ??

CN=partitions suggests that it thought it was replicating with a win 2k3
directory ?
