Hi,

I am unable to demote a domain controller using dcpromo,
The domain controller was a child domain of forest
acme.com which has crashed, now the child domain
eastcoast.acme.com is a orphan, and i am unable to
demote it,

on selecting "server is the last domain controller in
domain" option in dcpromo it asks for Enterprise Admin
privileges for forest acme.com, but this option cannot be
used as acme.com doesnot exsist,

on delselecting "server is the last domain controller in
domain" option dcpromo gives the error failed to find
suitable domain controller for the domain
eastcoast.acme.com,

so how do i remove AD from eastcoast.acme.com,

This is a test lab setup,

If you are running sp4 then a "dcpromo /forceremoval" should do the trick
for you. See KB 332199 for full instructions.

Hi Avinash,

if the dcpromo /forceremove is not working you'll have to clean up the AD:
