On several differen't websites i've had a microsoft
message popup that says the dcomx.exe has encountered a
problem and needs to shut down, i click on ok and then
the message window disappears--nothing else happens. i
called Dell and apparently they know of a dcom.exe but
could not find anything regarding dcomx.exe
i would like to know what this is and if it's anything to
worry about. Thanks.

Well yes anything that throws an error that is an executable is definitely something to worry about. I would check these locations for this file; C:\Documents and Settings\%profile%\local settings\temp and temporary internet files; C:\WINNT\system32; any folder with the word Application in it. You find that file right-click | Properties | Version (if it has one) and you tell us who the copyright holder is?

This file has a name that looks somewhat legitimate so ask here first before you remove it. NEVER delete nothing. Just move out of your path.
