I get this error message each night after backup exec
w/remote agent runs, I am backing up multiple servers from
2000 advanced server.

DCOM got error "Class not registered " from the
computer "server_name" when attempting to activate the
server:
{D99E6E73-FC88-11D0-B498-00A0C90312F3}

I have attempted to solve this via DCOMCNFG, but I am
unable to find this instance..... Anyone that can offer
suggestion..... I just started at this Co... looks like
this has been going on since server was setup.. 1 yr time.
Everything is running fine, but I would like to solve this
issue if possible. Sorry about the long winded message.
Thanks

I believe I found the fix, this from Veritas:
When backing up the System State on a remote system,
Backup Exec uses Microsoft Certificate Services
application programming interfaces (APIs) to determine if
Certificate Services is installed on the remote computer.
If the check succeeds, Backup Exec enables the special
routines to back up Certificate Services. If it fails,
Backup Exec will not attempt to back up Certificate
Services components. In addition, the Certificate Services
APIs log an error to the Windows 2000 system event log on
the backup server.

This error is a normal result of the API call determining
that Certificate Services is not installed. The error can
be ignored. If it is desired that the error not be
generated, there is a workaround that will prevent the
event from being logged. Certificate Services can be
installed on the remote servers that are generating the
error.

Hmmm.. normal error.. I love my job
