Event Type: Error
Event Source: DCOM
Event Category: None
Event ID: 10009
Date: 11/29/2003
Time: 7:24:43 AM
User: NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM
Computer: SERVER
Description:
DCOM was unable to communicate with the computer MAROBERTB using any of the
configured protocols.

The technet article said to check the DCOM registry setting, which was the
following:
ncacn_ip_tcp
ncacn_spx
ncacn_nb_nb
ncacn_nb_ipx

I am not running spx or ipx in my network config, should I remove all
references except for _ip_tcp?

Thank you

Hi JB,

www.eventid.net may also offer some hints.

Go to Component Services, Computers, rightclick computer, properties, tab
Default Protocols. Delete the UDP/IP and IPX-protocols and make sure the
Connection oriented TCP/IP is added and on top.

I removed an IPX protocol from the client computer, but the server is still
indicating the same error. I noticed in MSDTC tab, that under client
protocols, SPX is available.

Curious...why would only one machine be having this problem if those
protocols exist on the server?

Thanks

Don't know, but check the server and the client. Maybe it will need a reboot
if you had to change something.

The error continues, can anyone else help?
