Peter Copland
hi all,
I have just run dcdiag on my primary DC and received the
following results.
Microsoft Windows 2000 [Version 5.00.2195]
(C) Copyright 1985-2000 Microsoft Corp.
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator>dcdiag
DC Diagnosis
Performing initial setup:
Done gathering initial info.
Doing initial non skippable tests
Testing server: Default-First-Site\PRODSERVER
Starting test: Connectivity
PRODSERVER's server GUID DNS name could not
be resolved to an
IP address. Check the DNS server, DHCP,
server name, etc
Although the Guid DNS name (d91add6c-c8e2-
476a-8fd2-4c1402d657f8._msdcs.production.sovereign.local)
couldn't be resolved, the server name
(prodserver.production.sovereign.local) resolved to
(10.1.0.30) and was pingable. Check that the IP address is
registered correctly with the DNS server.
........................................
PRODSERVER failed test connectivity
Doing Primary tests
Testing server: Default-First-Site\PRODSERVER
Skipping all tests, because server PRODSERVER
is
not responding to directory service requests
Running enterprise tests on :
production.sovereign.local
Starting test: Intersite
.......................................
production.sovereign.local past test intersite
Starting test: FsmoCheck
.......................................
production.sovereign.local passed test FsmoCheck
It would appear that the DNS is not recognzing the the
server. Can I fix this or are we in big doo doo.
regards
Peter
