Direct cable connection requires use of serial ports, I think.. the little
nine pin 'D's..

I'm connecting a new laptop running XP with a Desktop
computer running 98. I'm connecting LP1 ports. I've been
looking though the error messages,

A certificate could not be found. Connections that use
the L2TP protocol over IPSec require the installation of
a machine certificate, also known as a computer
certificate. No L2TP calls will be accepted.

Unable to add the interface {46FD3B21-76C2-4955-87E9-
BD2DAC815705} with the Router Manager for the IP
protocol. The following error occurred: Cannot complete
this function.

Unable to contact a DHCP server. The Automatic Private IP
Address 169.254.36.195 will be assigned to dial-in
clients. Clients may be unable to access resources on the
network.

Unable to contact a DHCP server. The Automatic Private IP
Address 169.254.64.188 will be assigned to dial-in
clients. Clients may be unable to access resources on the
network.

Any suggestions?
