Can someone remind me which registry key to change in order to change a DC
to a member server when dcpromo will not run.

Thanks

Allan

You can use dcpromo /Forceremoval to remove AD when dcpromo wont run (then
you have to do a metadata cleanup). What errors are you getting ? Can you
better describe your situation.

Someone else 'had a go' at removing it from a domain but failed. They have
screwed up AD, DNS, RAS etc etc. On occasion, the event viewer will not
display event details and I am in this situation bow. The main issue is that
is takes hours to try to process the logon when it boots so I am after a
quick fix just to get me going. I am aware of the /forceremoval option but I
don't have the patch from Microsoft and I am a bit loathed to install SP4 to
get the feature.

I have used the registry patch successfully in the past but foolishly forgot
to make a copy of the article. I cannot find it in the newsgroups anymore
wither - just references to a few people who have used it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Allan
