not sure if this is the right place to post this, but here goes.
In sites and services we configured a site for VPN users to come into the
network, either by dialup, dsl, broadband, etc. This site doesn't have a
Domain controller located in it. The logins can take 15 minutes or more. We
have traced a number of things down that might help correct this but the
biggest question is
sometimes when a workstation comes in and logs onto the network, this uses
one of the Domain controllers in our home office as that is where the VPN
site is also located, other times and we've seen this on a trace, when the
workstation logs onto the network, it will make a call to WINS in which WINS
will return the last 25 Domain Controllers that have registered, which could
be anywhere, and the workstation logons to that Domain Controller.
I found this KB article 200498 Configure a Domain Controller for membership
in multiple sites. I configured one DC for this, but it didn't seem to help.
any thougths
