Roro

hello,

i recently formatted my computer, but before i did so, i managed to save the
Local Settings folder of my Documents and Settings profile (I had Windows XP
Home, now i have XP Professional).

Now, I had a large amount of emails in those DBX files (my inbox is about
12mbs, but i've got many other folders as well), but i cant seem to get them
into OE. Firstly, just copying them into the OE directory and deleting
Folders.dbx doesnt work, DBXtract doesnt work either (it spends some time,
says extraction complete, but nothing is visible..and this for ALL my files,
not just Inbox

If anyone has any idea how i can diagnose and fix this problem, i would be
glad to hear it...

thank you very much,

roro

This newsgroup is for support of Outlook 97, 98, 2000 & 2002 from the Office
family for Windows PCs. For Outlook Express (OE) support try posting in one
of
these newsgroups:
microsoft.public.inetexplorer.ie4.outlookexpress for OE 4.x
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie5.outlookexpress for OE 5.x
http://support.microsoft.com/newsgr...blic.windows.inetexplorer.ie55.outlookexpress
for OE 5.5x
http://support.microsoft.com/newsgr...ublic.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress
for OE 6.x
http://support.microsoft.com/newsgr...;newsgroupsmicrosoft.public.internet.mail.mac
for the Macintosh version of OE
http://support.microsoft.com/newsgr...ess.mac&SLCID=US&sd=GN&id=fh;en-us;newsgroups

If those groups aren't carried on the news server that's carrying this group
try using msnews.microsoft.com (MS's public news server that's the source
for all the microsoft.public newsgroups). The links under the newsgroup
references are for use with MS's web newsreader (not exactly the best way to
post but it works for some people)

Also a good source of Outlook Express info can be found here:

Yes, yes, i know, however the Outlook Express newsgroups are far less
active, and i need a response as soon as possible: if there are people here
that can answer my question, what is wrong with them doing so? It's not like
i'm spamming 1000 different newsgroups.

What is wrong with doing so is that we get enough traffic in the Outlook
newsgroups from people posting OE questions as it is. The
microsoft.public.outlook newsgroup gets as many as 450 posts and replies
PER DAY during the work week. It's understandable that a lot of people
don't understand that Outlook and Outlook Express are two completely
different programs, so we try to educate them and point them in the
right direction. However, when you KNOW you're posting in the wrong
newsgroup, that's another matter altogether. How do you expect there to
be more traffic in the OE newsgroups if all the OE users are posting
here, especially the ones who know better?

Please, have some consideration for the Outlook users and keep the OE
questions where they belong. The fewer OE posts we have to wade
through, the more time and energy we'll have for answering Outlook
questions. I understand you are frustrated and need help quickly, but
this is not the way you should handle it.

One more suggestion for you, hopefully a constructive one -- try
searching Google Groups, especially in the OE newsgroups, for archived
messages that might deal with your issue. The archives go back several
years.
