How can I get windows xp home to support a db9 serial
port device? A printer. Thanks, slgs

Go to Start Menu, Printers and Faxes, Add Printer, Local Printer, Next,
select Com1 or Com2 from the "Use the following port".

Thanks

Thanks John,
I have a RS 232 serial printer by Brother. They told me
no windows XP driver was available because XP did not
support serial devices. I have the original W98 floppy
disk drivers but they will not install on my XP machine.
Screen just shows solid biege and I must(ctrl-alt-del)to
end task. Any advice? Thanks, slgs

You need to read the manual for your Brother serial printer, a lot of times
your printer will be compatible with another Brother printer driver, or
compatible with a bigger name printer manufacture like Epson, Okidata, etc.

You also can try to picking a Generic printer driver.

If all else fails, buy a new printer.

Thanks
