DB Permissions

Well, I think I've really done it. I was reading an article about tweaking
XP Pro. In doing so, I changed some user information thru Control Panel and
now I can't open a database.

I was trying to get my PC to auto log in as Admin whenever I start my PC
(I'm the only user). A change I made (unaware of doing it and not desired)
removed the Admin account from the Welcome screen (which I would like to get
back but that's another topic). Now I can't log in thru the Welcome screen,
plus as an added feature, I can no longer open my database. I get the
message "You do not have the necessary permissions to use the 'c:\...'
object..." it names the DB in question which I created as Admin (I never log
in as anything else).

Any ideas on how to crack this? All I want is the data, so if I can't open
it, can I somehow copy it?

James,

When your Welcome Screen for WinXP displays, press Ctrl-Alt_Del 2 times and
it should bring up a login screen where you can type in your Administrator's
name and password. As a general rule you probably want to create an account
with admin rights to use instead of the admin account itself. When in Admin,
you can either copy your db to another users folder or right click on the
folder where the db is and change the security or shared settings of the
folder so another account has access to share the db.

At the very least this should allow you back in to the admin account. .
..good luck.
