Daylight Savings Changes in Calendar

I work for a global company (you know about global companies don't you
Microsoft???) and can't believe the Outlook Calendar doesn't automatically
update appointments based on the organiser's timezone and daylight saving
settings (believe it or not these do change throughout the year).
What a joke. Maybe that was one of those things you left off this time
around so you can add it to your next release and charge more money.
Get with it Microsoft, please.

When someone sends an appointment the time is in UTC and it adjusts for your
local time when received, based on the time it was received. When DST or
your TZ settings change, the appointment reflects the changes. Outlook
doesn't keep track of what TZ the organizer is in or if they honor DST.

Diane,

So what you're saying is that if a recurring meeting is organised with
several people in different timezones, when the organiser's state/country
goes through a daylight savings change they must delete the meeting and
reschedule to update everyone elses calendar that hasn't gone through the
daylight savings change.
I have had this issue recently where the hour after the meeting was held the
first time after daylight savings was applied, I had people emailing me
asking if the meeting was still on.
Can you understand why this may be a problem?

If on July 1, a person makes an appointment for 9 AM November 20 in the
organizers time zone, it's going to be 9 AM that day in the organizers TZ on
the organizer calendar, whether or not the organizer's TZ observes DST.

If an invitee and the organizer don't both use/not use DST, then it's
possible there will be a mix up in the time. The only capability Outlook has
to track other people's TZ and DST is by using dual time zones and Outlook
should show the correct time in the organizer TZ, provided that second zone
has the proper dst setting.
