This Compaq computer, bought 4 weeks ago, came with
XP Home Edition. I thought it would automatically
reset its clock at 0200 this morning, but it didn't.
Okay, I reset it manually, but where is the "automatic"
feature, so that I can energize it?

Thanks.

Old enough . . . .
.... to know I don't really know a thing.

Ignore my first reply (no reply . . .)

Double-click on your clock - go to "time zones" tab
Check box "Automatically adjust clock for daylight saving time changes"

While we're on the subject of Daylight Saving Time, does anyone know if a patch
will be issued for Windows XP to make the adjustments on the new dates
(Starting in 2007 daylight time will start on the second Sunday of March and
will end on the first Sunday in November.)

Thanks!

Yes, they will. For Win XP and Win 2003. Older operating systems will not
have the patch.

Thanks for the good advice....went there...
Found the box....it was already checked....
Hmmmmm. So why didn't it automatically change?
(Rhetorical question). We'll just chalk it
up to Elmer's Law.

Elmer Fudd?

Oh, you know Elmer's Law. It comes in many forms.
Like, a piece of bread that you drop, always lands
buttered side down.
Or, with any blind choice, left or right turn....
you always pick the wrong one.

Is the date correct?

Don't know about his, but mine switched over to Pacific time
from Eastern. All the settings were correct and the toggle was
on Eastern time after the event. First time that's ever happened
to me in 18-years of Windows. This experience was on a Compaq
notebook that I switched over from w2k to XP Pro last month.
Interesting.

Or Murphy's law in some regions..

What is more frustrating is 3 OSes with 3rd party boot manager. All MS OSes
set to autochange for daylight savings time. Finally changed the non-XP
OSes to not do so this time, since I use XP the most.
