DaVinci still can't send email

I have verified that all my account info is correct and that my internet mail
works. I have deleted my mail account and rebooted prior to adding a new
account with password checked before and after entry (depending on the
attempt). While I am able to receive mail, I can not send mail. When I now
try,
I get the following message:

The host 'smptout.secureserver.net' could not be found. Please verify that
you have entered the server name correctly.
Subject 'test', Account: 'mail.marshallassociates.biz', Server:
'smptout.secureserver.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket
Error: 11001, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D

First question.

Is this the ISP you are connected?

Is this a web based account?

Are you using a company to host you domain and just connect via your local
ISP?

The reason I'm asking is because it appears that the account name and the
SMTP server name are different and the ISP may be blocking even without
sending a 550 Relay error message back.

So the question is this. Is either one of the domains you have listed the
way you connect to the Internet? If not, then put in the SMTP server name
for the Internet connection.

According to this one page:
http://products.secureserver.net/email/email_outlook.htm

"NOTE: "smtpout.secureserver.net" is an SMTP relay server. In order to use
this server to send e-mails, you must first activate SMTP relay on your
e-mail account. Log on to your Manage Email Accounts page to set up SMTP
relay. If you do not have SMTP relay set up and your Internet Service
Provider (ISP) allows it, you can use the outgoing mail server for your
Internet Service Provider. Contact your Internet Service Provider to get
this setting."

Looks like you have a typo. In your mail server configuration, make sure it
says smtpout . . . etc, not, smptout. . . etc.

Comcast is my ISP and worked without difficukty with OE. GoDaddy hosts my
mail and domain and it also works fine with a web account and OE.

Put in the Comcast SMTP server and see if it works. We had to switch to
InsightBB''s business SMTP server awhile back instead of our own domain's
SMTP server. No rhyme or reason why, they just did it one day. Might be
similar.

i had to change my smtp out port to 465 and pops port to 995. my sending
email after that worked fine.

Record a log. Tools - Options - Advanced - Maintenance. The log will contain
the conversation between OE and the smtp server.

Have you entered a password/user name for sending in Tools - Accounts -
<account> - Properties - under outgoing account properties/authenication.

Could someone help me out with the error messages
I am receiving below. I have been on line with my isp and they could not
figure these out. I am working wireless.

Is your ISP Sympatico? The message is from the Sympatico SMTP server, not
from Windows Mail.

Agreed, and since STARTTLS is a keyword used to initiate a secure SMTP
connection using the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol, it appears that
the OP is failing to enable the "My server requires authentication" setting
for his outgoing mail server .

Thank you for your message so does that mean I need to make some changes in
the parameters and where do I make those changes. Yes sympatico is my isp.
Do I need to call them again to set something else up? What is OP?

You need to ask your ISP whether their outgoing mail server requires authentication.
Ideally, this sort of email setup information should be available on their customer
support page on the web. If the answer is yes, go to the usual place in WinMail
where the account settings are: Tools, Accounts, highlight the account,
Properties, Servers tab, where you will see the box to enable outgoing mail
server authentication.

OP is an abbreviation for Original Poster, i.e., the person who started
a given conversation thread.
