Dates and Charts

I often have to create charts in PowerPoint using the chart function. The
data I have for the charts is in Excel. When I paste that data from Excel
into PowerPoint, dates in Excel (e.g. Mar-2006) get lost in translation and
the only way to get them right in the PowerPoint chart seems to be to retype
them. Any way to get around this? I need to use the PowerPoint chart
function (don't ask why!), so pasting a chart from Excel won't help.

I'm not sure there's a way around this. You can specify number formatting on
the PPT datasheet, but I think your Excel data format will have already
changed the numbers so you'd have to retype (as you've been doing).

Hm. Wonder if you can Paste Special in a PPT MSGraph datasheet?

You said not to ask why, so I won't <g>, but I'm sure wondering why you
can't paste a chart from Excel. Sure seems as if that would be the easiest
way around it.
