When I speak with a contact, I want to make a note of our conversation
without having to type in the date each time.

Sounds like a real time saver.

Now, do you have a question? What version of Outlook? Where is it that you
want these notes to show?

After furious head scratching, Timnote asked:

Milly - thank you for responding.

When I double click on a contact, the contact's "record" (not sure of the
terminology here) comes up. On the right hand side under the fields for
E-mail and Web page address is a blank notepad (at least that's what I took
it to be). Is there a way to have the date of my note automatically
inserted? It would be nice not to have to write in the date everytime I have
a conversation with a contact and make a note.

Also, I'm wondering how one would use the contacts button on the bottom
left; I suppose the purpose is to be able to link other contacts to this
contact, but how would that be used in practical application.

Thank you very much.

Tim

http://www.outlook-tips.net/howto/date_stamp.htm for the first question.

As for the second, suppose you are making notes about a sales contact and
want to link it to others at the same company with whom you have made
contact? Works better than making the same notes in each contact. Or you
are having an interview with a contact and want to follow up to the HR and
Manager for that contact?
