Hi ,

1. I need to see week days prior to year 1800 using MS date/time in XP or
Win2k. How do it see ?
2. Can anyone explain the limitation - Dates are between Jan-1980 & Dec 2099
?

Thanks

I don't think that system BIOS would recognize a date out side of the range
quoted.. many years ago, I had a program that would give that kind of info,
but alas no longer.. there may well be one around someplace.. also bear in
mind that Calendars have changed over the centuries, so results may not be
too accurate..

I beg to differ, this has nothing to do with the BIOS. I have dual booting
RHL on the same BIOS and I am able to see years beyond 1800. In fact it even
shows the leap year adjustment in 1972 (cal 9 1752) and also years beyond
1700. As far as I remember this is the only change we had on our English
calenders since 3 centuries.

I'd appreciate it if someone can give me the RIGHT answers.

Well, your answer has to do with BIOS compatibility. Older
BIOS chips only referred to the year in two digit terms
(ie 1983 was actually noted as 83 because no one had the
forethought to think of the year 2000, hence the
Y2K "bug"). For compatibility, Microsoft has limited the
date/time so that no older BIOS chips will have to deal
with getting confused if the OS tells it the date is, say
1800, because the older BIOS would only see "00" not 1800
or 1900 or 2000 and would not be able to tell the
difference. So, to be safe, MS limits the date range. Of
course, 2080-2099 is a concern but I doubt any pre-1998
Bios chips will still be on and I think that Microsoft
assumes the same thing. Answer your question?
