date / year changed from 2004 to 15xxx?

On Jan 11th, my wife turned her WinXP/ Dell laptop on and all these security certificates keep popping up whenever she visits a webpage. I figured the date was messed up, and sure enough, the year was 15 thousand something. I can't remember the exact date. Any one else know if there is something deeper about this?

That's IS funny, as the highest date you can select is 2099! Hell, you can't
even type in anything higher!
