Date page is revised

When a revision is made to one page in the web I would like for that revsion
date to show up in a special place on my home page.

I am creating a place where a band director can enter in a dail blog type of
thing - on the home page I want it to show up when he last made an entry.

Any help or suggestions will be much appreciated!

Method One:
If you just want a "This page was last updated on...." type thing, then you
can just insert the date/time from Insert > Date/Time and choose "Last time
page edited" or "Last time page was automatically updated". It gives you a
few choices of date format eg US vs UK format or the "long" or "abbreviated"
date format, and 12/24 hour time etc.

If it is something more along the lines of wanting a "log" of the updates in
a list, the try this:

Method Two:
1) Create a new page called "site updates".
2) Make a table with 3 columns.
3) In the first column type the name of the page that was updated.
4) The second column would have a description of the update.
5) The third column the date it was done.

Then have a link at the foot (or wherever) on the page saying "This site
last updated on [insert date/time using Method One] <a
href="siteupdates.html">click here for details</a>.

I don't know if (either) of these are what you want, can you please explain
further, or post back.

Otherwise you can set up the (above Method 2) idea using the database
results wizard, so your client can enter the details himself through a web
form, it will then display on another page in a table/list (as described
above).

Try www.webpagewiz.com for a tutorial on using the database features in
Frontpage.

I have created a "guest book" but only my client will use the guest book.
When he submits the info I am having the "guestlog.htm" pulled into a public
page where folks can see what he has posted for that day.

What I want is for when the "guestlog.htm" page is updated I want that date
to appear on the home page so that guests know that the director has updated
his info - it will say "Directors Updates - last updated ......" I want this
to happen automatically because I don't want to have to update the date
everytime he makes a change. I don't need a log. I can get the late updated
info to appear on the page that was updated I am just not sure how to get
that date to appear on a different page.

Does that clarify?

Not possible w/o custom server side scripting
- especially since you are using the FP guest book which generates it's content server side using the FP SE
