Can anyone tell me what I need to put in a calculated
query field in order to work out someones exact age from
their date of birth.

Depends what you mean by "exact age"

If all you want is their age in years, try:

Age=DateDiff("yyyy", [DoB], Date()) - _
IIf(Format(Date(), "mmdd") < Format([DoB], "mmdd"), 1, 0)
