Date Formula

Is there a formula for date that will automatically add the slash marks in between the numbers? For example in my date column I want to type in only numbers (i.e. 011704), however, I want it it show up in the cell as 01-17-04. If anyone knows how to accomplish this I would appreciate the help. Thanks

This can be done by customising the format of the cells in question:

Format/Cells/Custom, then in the 'Type' box just enter 00-00-00 (or
00"/"00"/"00 if you prefer).

Thanks Terry, that was so easy. I forget to think simple sometimes. I appreciate the help.
