Date format in cell

I set the format for the cell to be a date in the form 11/22 (no year) and
enter 11/15. Excel changes it to 11/15/2003. I do not want the year. Is
there a way other than making it a text field?

Yoiu can't do anything about it except to use a custom format in the cell
like mm/dd
in the formula bar it will show the full date since there are no dates in
excel w/o a year,
If you only enter month and day it will be current year. Only other way is
to precede the
entry with an apostrophe and thus making it text
