datagrid vb6 backspace delete fails

Datagrid VB6.0 with columns A, B and C. Enter text into A
and then B, then click on C and then click back on B. The cursor is at
end-of-text and backspace each character to delete the text, then
click on A and text in A is highlighted and press backspace once and
text is deleted but column B text magically reappears in column B.
What is this? Please - would appreaciate any help. Thank you.

This is a VB.NET group. Please turn to one of the VB Classic groups (microsoft.public.vb.*).
