I know that CE.NET can run pocket access and SQL server, but is there a
database that can run on XPE?
 
Any XP Pro compatible database will operate on XPE so long as the proper
components are there and you have enough storage.

The question seem rather basic, but I had the impression that Access (or
Office in general) could not be installed on the embedded image.
Additionally, per the EULA item # 12 "COMPANY may not distribute in any
manner, or include in the image: (a) the Microsoft Data Engine or (b) the
'setup.exe' file contained in the SQLMSDE folder." I was wondering if there
was a Microsoft product or technology that I could use (rather than open
source).
