How do I take the database I created and make it an executable? Someone told
me that this was possible. If so, do the people running the database need
Access on their machine as well?

The Always Access Confused

Greg,

You've been misinformed. Access cannot be made into an executable.

There are two options:

1. Each user will have a full copy of MS Access installed on his or her
computer; or,

2. You will need to purchase/own a copy of MS Office Developer. MOD comes
with tools which will allow you to distribute your database with a
royalty-free Access runtime installation. The users would get all of the
file necessary to open and run your database but not make design changes.

hth,

No.

Someone told me that this was possible.

They were mistaken, or perhaps you misinterpreted their statement -
see below.

They need a compatible version of msaccess.exe. There are two ways
they can get one: installing retail Access; *or*, you can purchase the
Office Developers' Edition for your version of Access. This lets you
create a "Runtime" program containing a stripped-down Access program
with no design tools; this can be distributed royalty-free along with
your database.
