Database query of an excel worksheet

When I query an excel database using the get external data
function I have a problem with the data returned. I have
columns with both numberic and alpha numeric data. The
query will only recognize one or the other type of data.
It will leave a blank in the cell for the data it will not
return.

Example: If I have a column of invoice numbers and one of
the numbers contains an alpha character, the query will
leave a blank in the resulting cell.

Help!!
 
Untested, but
Make your numbers store as text by prefacing them with a single quote or
formatting the cells as text before entering the number. Then all your data
should be alpha numeric.
