I have a database (Access 2002) that was created by
someone who is no longer with the company. She apparently
set permissions on the database so that every default user
and group (including the Admin group and Admin user) has
Read-Only permissions.
I do not have access to any information about the login
she set up to do this. I have only my default .mdw file
and the computer she was working on was cleared a very
long time ago. This was not a database I have been using;
it was sent to me by another office because they need to
make changes and no one can get in.
I can create a new database and import the tables from
this database but I cannot import the forms, which are
what I need to access to make changes. It tells me that I
do not have the permissions to copy the forms.
I can create a new user and group and give that user/group
complete permissions but the database still insists that
new user/group has Read-Only permissions. Same if I set up
a new security.mdw or workgroup using the Security wizard,
etc.
I have tried going in via VBA from another database and
get the same error - I am told that I do not have the
correct permissions and must contact the Administrator.
This database was originally part of a replicated set. I
have no access to any replicants and have made this one
the Design Master. I don't know if that would play any
role in this problem.
Is there some way I can get into this database, or at
least get around the permissions enough to import the
forms from this database into a new database?
