I copied Access 2000 database from network drive to local drive to free up space on network. Now when I try to open database I get error message "Microsoft Jet Database engine cannot open <<Database>>, file is open exclusively by another user" (not exact message but close). Is there anything I can do to correct this or am I needing to find backup for when file was on network and restore?

Did you copy a NAME.DBL file at the same time as the database with the
same name? If so delete it.

Thanks for the reply. No there are no files named the same with another extension (.dlb or .idx) on my local drive

I think he meant name.ldb file, where name is the name of your database file (mdb file). If you find this file in the same folder as your mdb file AND the .mdb file is definitly closed, than go ahead and delete the .ldb file
