database is read-only

I have an Access database, running on a terminal server network. I want
multiple people to use the front end at the same time to update the SQl
server database. The problem is users get a message saying that the database
is read only. Although one would assume that they cannot update data, users
are able to update data so it seems the message refers only to database
objects. I thought perhaps it had something to do with Open Exclusive, but
the users are accessing the database from a shortcut. I'm the only one who
uses the Open Exclusive and that's when I am making changes. I make sure I
open it using the regular Open option (not exclusive) when I test the db
after making changes. Even though I have full rights, when I open the
database (if I'm not trying Open Exclusive and I'm the only one with it open)
I will get the read-only message as well.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! The users are getting frustrated
with the message pop-up.

First I would right click on the db itself, not the shortcut, and see if the
read only box is checked if it is just uncheck it. Reply if the solution is
not this simple.

Thanks for the response. No, unfortunately it's not that simple. The
database actual worked fine for a while, and then at some point the message
began appearing. I have not tried creating a blank database and importing
all of the objects, then replacing the existing database with the new one,
but that will be my next course of action I think. Interestingly, there are
three other databases that are being used but the only difference is the
users of these other databases are not getting to the frontend file via a
shortcut. They are opening the mdb directly. None of those users are having
the same issues.
