Database For Personal Finance

I'm sort of dissatisfied with the current personal financial software that's
out with all the unnecessary bells and whistles.

I also don't want to purchase a full-blown spreadsheet program.

Is it feasible to create database in access 2007 that can be based on
a personal finances?

Thanks,
James

Yes.

Practical? Probably not, unless you're already very adept with both Access and
with accounting. It's a VERY complex mess, when you get deeply enough into it
to have a really capable program. I'm good at Access but if I want personal
finance software I'll use Microsoft Money (or one of its competitors). They've
put person-decades of effort into it, and even if I only use a few of the
bells and whistles, it's far cheaper (in my time and effort) than rolling my
own.

Of course, it depends on what you will settle for - if you just want a
personal check record with check number, amount, date and payee, and to
calculate current balance, you could set up an Excel spreadsheet to do so.
