Database Corruption

I have an Access database that was developed 18 months ago
and has been in constant daily use ever since. I have
just gone in to make a new report and I am now getting the
following error:
"Error accessing file. Network connection may have been
lost."
I have performed a compact and repair and I have also
created a new database and imported the objects from the
old application. The application runs fine until I
attempt to make any changes to the objects. I then get
the error again.
Has anyone had this issue before and resolved it
successfully?
