Data Value in a Chart

By default when you enable the data label in a 3-D Bar
Chart, the
data label starts in the middle of the bar chart. Is there
any way to
change the label to be out of the bar
chart?

This problem happens only with 3-D Bar Charts.
Thanks

If you double click on the labels, and click on the Alignment tab, there
is no Label Position option as there is for non-3D charts. You can
select and move each label individually with the mouse, or use a VBA
solution, like the Move Labels feature of Rob Bovey's Chart Labeler
addin (free at http://appspro.com). But you can't specify another
standard position for labels in a 3D chart.

In a 2D chart, you can't change the default position of these labels,
but you can reposition them through the format labels dialog.

Thanks for your help.

However, I still need your help.

Option 1
If I move manually the label for one series, it will not
move the label for all the records with this series. This
series is also based on new records I'll add.

Option 2
I was able to play with the wonderful add-in tool.
However, after moving the labels out of the bar, I
realized that my problem is a little different.
The label for the series that has the highest number will
still start in the middle of the bar, because there is no
room in the chart for 7-8 digits. (3-4 digits works fine)
Making the chart bigger will not help
Is there any way to make only the chart frame bigger, so
there will be more space between the chart and the frame?

Thanks again

1. You can use Rob's addin to move labels, as well as create labels. It
will move (your choice) one label, or all labels by the same amount.

2. You can increase the size of the whole chart (technically of the
chart object), then shrink the plot area, so that you have a wider
margin around the plot.

Jon, Thanks again

Rob's addin will only move the label until it reaches the
top of the chart, after that, nothing will happen when
clicking the up arrow.

The only option left is to increase the size of the chart,
and then shrink the plot area. Then I will have to use
Rob's addin tool. This works fine in Excel.

However, I changed the entire file to MsAccess. I'm using
now the Access chart. Do you know of any addin tool for
Access?

Thanks

Doesn't Access use MSGraph? That's kind of scary. In principle you could
adapt Rob's addin to work with it, but programming for MSG is no walk in
the park. There are some sources of information, including Microsoft's
support site and some of the PowerPoint MVP sites (probably Access as
well). Run a google search on Microsoft Graph VBA.

To the best of my knowledge, it is not possible to move a chart element
outside of the chart boundaries.
