What is the maximum number of entries that will be display in a data validation list?

Thanks,
K

It would obviously be very impractical with a 65000 row list but I don't
think it is a limit

Hi Kristy!

You can't show more than 8 rows in a data validation drop down.

As for the number of items in the list, I can't seem to get more than
32767, but that should be enough and it makes loading the list very
slow.

Hi Norman,

I tested with 65535 items and I can scroll to see them all.
I also suspect that the OP was asking about visible rows

Hi Peo!

I agree on what OP is probably after but can't see how you got it to
accept 65535 entries.

I'm using Excel 2003.

In H1 I have Text1
This is filled down to H65536 so that I get a final Text65536
In Data Validation I declare the list as H1:H65536
I can only scroll down to Text32767

Back in Data Validation I notice that H1:H65536 has been changed to
H:H
So I change to H1:H65535
I can still only scroll down to Text32767

I've tried an originating entry of I1:I65535 but can still only get
half of the list you're getting. It's not important as such a long
list is, as you say, impractical but...
