Hi, I have two computers and I connected those by cross
cable on ethernet but i couldn't access to antoher
computer... How i can do network settings to access for
data transfer? Thanks!

Steve - it's been a while since I tried this out.

If you have a properly wired crossover cable, you should be seeing link
lights and activity lights at both ends of the wire--do you?

You need to have File and Printer sharing for Microsoft Networks loaded.

It is easiest if you set the connection to show in the system tray when
active.

The trick is knowing the IP addresses of the two machines.

At a command prompt, type in IPCONFIG and hit enter.

You should see an IP address in the 169.254.xxx.yyy range.

Ditto at the other machine.

At each machine to Start, run, \\169.254.xxx.yyy (using the number of the
other machine)

You'll need to share some folders, and be using usernames and passwords that
are defined on the machine you are connecting to.

What versions of Windows are involved?

Both machines will need an IP address assigned that uses the same subnet
ie... 10.0.0.1 and 10.0.0.2.
Both machines will need to have File and Print Sharing turned on and a
shared folder set up.
Both machines will need to be members of the same workgroup. Right Click My
Computer to see what the workgroup name currently is and see where to change
it to make them the same.

APIPA takes care of the IP address and submet assignment. Now that you
mention it, with XP at least, running the network setup wizard should take
care of some of this job--I believe it sets the workgroup name, at least.
