Any ideas
Thanks!

Steve,

1) If you have formulas in the first column, Excel will sort based on their
current value, and then they will recalc and get different values.

2) Some are numbers, some are strings with spaces or other non-visible
leading characters.

Column one contains entered text, Column H is entered numbers, in fact all columns are entered no formulas at all
Thanks

Hi
you have probably formated column A as text and not as number. So excel
does not do a numerical sort. Try the following:
- change the format of column A to 'General' or 'Number' (Format -
Cells')
- select an empty cell and copy this cell (hit CTRL+C)
- select your values in column A
- goto 'Edit - Paste Special' and choose the action 'Add'

Now try to sort again (column A now contains numbers)
