To Saker,
chkdsk recovers lost clusters into individual files. When
the FAT was damaged on your drive, check disk ran and found
each lost cluster and created all those 000.chk files.
Unfortunately they are not associated with any program or
with each other, except by accident. They are created in
the order they were on the disk platter, if the disk was
well defragged, you might be able to open each file with
notepad and see if there is any data you can save.
Operating system files/program files would be very hard to
fix, but text files might be recognizable and recoverable.
