Seanpaul,

What you are seeing is the file allocation table not the actual files, you
need to check the discs for damaged sectors.
Insert disc, go to My Computer>right click on the A drive icon.
Select Properties>Tools>Error checking and click on Check now.
Tick the box "Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors" then start.
If any damaged areas are found you may be asked if you want to copy any data
to other areas of the disc ( if the disc is not already full)
Any success will depend on the type of file and the amount of damaged
sectors it occupies and how much room you have on the disc to move data
around.
There used to be several floppy date recovery utilities around when floppies
were more prevalent, try Googling for some.

Sean,

You say <<data is shown but i cannot display or run the data>> How is the
data shown if you've been unable to display it?

Before panicking, test the floppy diskette in another
computer. The diskette might be OK but the floppy disk
drive could be malfunctioning. Only attempt recovery
when it is known with certainty that the diskette has
problems.

The best available tool for recovering data under these circumstances
is Spinrite from Gibson Research (www.grc.com)

Good luck
