Is there any way to recovery data from a disk drive that is in RAW state?
To make a long story short. I bought a new 80 gig and made it the master,
moved my old drive to slave. The slave drive had 2 partitions 15 and 65
gig. I used the "copy" software that came with the new drive to copy the 15
gig partition. Well it did that but also did something to the 65 gig
partition. My system sees the slave drive but in properties it says RAW.
The 65 gig was personal stuff. I called a couple of data recovery places
and they want 500-1500 dollars to recover the data. Any help is
appreciated.

BTW I called the new drive manufacture and they say I followed the
instructions correctly but they have never heard of this happening.

Truly horrified over this....

The term 'RAW' means that a partition is not formatted. An unformatted
partition has no file system and, consequently, no way to access any
information that may be on the drive.

So I should just format the drive and live with the fact that everything is
lost.

Rick;
You seem to have 2 choices:
1. Pay a data recovery (search Google "data recovery" for
alternatives)
2. Forget about the lost data.

In the future it is always a good idea to have back-ups of important
data.
