Data Migration from Windows Mail

For a long time, my mail program has been Windows Mail (2006), which came
with my installation of Vista for Business; as I recall, I had no problem
importing data from Outlook Express, my earlier program. Now that I have
installed "Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2007," I would like to start
using "Outlook 2007," exclusively, but not without first transferring all my
data over from Windows Mail. How do I do that?

I tried "importing" (from the file menu commands), but the options in the
submenus do not include Windows Mail as a program.
 
This is now resolved: "Windows Mail" was in the submenu, but hidden behind
"Outlook Express 4.x, 5.x, 6.x or ".

My next question would be: do I uninstall Windows Mail and all its
associated files to create disk space?
 
The correct method would have been to Export msgs from Mail to Outlook, to
preserve the msg modified dates, as they will now all be set to the Import
date.
No you dont uninstall Mail, its part of the o/s as was Outlook Express, also
Mail is used to access newsgroups as Outlook has no news reader capabilty.
You might want to either delete the accounts in Mail or set it not to
send/receive mail, to prevent it downloading should you open it.

While you've found how to import mail from Windows Mail, it is better to
export mail from Windows Mail to Outlook to preserve more of the message
attributes. Import your Windows Mail Contacts from Outlook, though.

No. Just leave it alone. You can, if you wish, delete all the messages it
contains and then compact the folders to minimize the space, but I don't
think you'll recover all that much.
