DATA LOCKUP

Suddenly, my Excel spread-sheet data locked-up.

Specifically, I have a checkbook ledger with a column for
checks and deposits and an adjacent column for checking
account balance. About a week ago, the balance column no
longer functioned: i.e., it would operate properly when I
wrote =+D75-C76 (D75 being the previous balance and C76
being the most recent check).

But, when I would change the amount in cell C76, the
balance shown in D76 would not change unless I re-wrote
the instruction =+D75-C76.

Any ideas?

Best regards to all

Check in
Tools > Options > Calculation
to see if calculation is set to manual (should be automatic).

This is a per session variable that takes on the setting of the first
workbook opened in that session (unless, and until, you change it). So, if
you had first opened another workbook set to manual and then opened the one
you are talking about, you would still be in manual mode.
