Running:
MS Access 2000 SR-1 with all officeupdate patches applied
on a Win2k SP4 client
Problem:
In trying to connect to a SQL database I keep running into
the same problem. I create a new .ADP but after specifying
(verified) server/user/pwd/db in the Data Link Properties
dialog box the test connection always fails with the same
error:
"Test connection failed because of an error in
initializing provider. [DBNMPNTW]Specified SQL server not
found."
(this error is referenced in KB article#198977, but in
relation to Win95/98)
I _have_ been able to access this database no problem on
another user's computer, but he's running Access 2000 over
WinXP pro. Have tried reformatting & reinstalling
Win2k/Office2k, but no change.
Are there any known issues between Win2k & Access2k that I
might have missed in the knowledge base?
Any help at all is much appreciated as I am now able to
connect only through the other user's laptop.
