Hi

Can someone tell me why when using Data-Filter-Autofilter I only sometimes
get the message in the Status Bar showing that I have filtered 15 out of 25
records. I am using Excel 2000 and other colleagues also report similar
erratic behaviour (in relation to Excel, that is)

Thanks

Tim

When your list has many formulas, the Status Bar may show "Filter Mode"
instead of a count of the visible records. You can use the Subtotal
function to count the visible rows.

The following MSKB article has some information:

XL2000: Excel AutoFilter Status Bar Message Shows "Filter Mode"
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-ca;213886

XL: AutoFilter Status Bar Message Shows "Filter Mode"

And a couple of workarounds:

Many thanks for such a quick and comprehensive answer

The MSKB refers to XL97 but it is still true in XL2000
