I am getting an error saying (To help protect your computer, Windows has
closed this program) then it says Windows Explorer. I am not sure what to
do.

When I came home from work I was getting an error for McAfee Security
Center. I rebooted the machine and that problem went away, but I got the DEP
error after the reboot. I do have Windows XP with service pack 2. I have
never seen this before so I am not sure what I should do.

This is an indication of either virus or trojan activity infection. I have
had to deal with this several times recently.

Data Execution Prevention or DEP is a method by which the execution of
suspicious softwares is prevented at the hardware level. This is done to
make the computer secure against Virus or spyware/trojan attacks

I was getting DEP errors on svchost, run dll as an app, cpl [control panel],
various things etc

Slave the drive and run an AV program and some worthy spyware cleaners
against it such as

Malwarebytes and A-Squared both free utilities

http://www.malwarebytes.org/ says free trial version but you can use it
indefinitely

A DEP error usually can indicate a device driver problem, usually a
poorly design one. I recently had this. After weeks of attempting to
fix this, I was forced to uninstall my Internet protection system and
"scrub out" the left-over settings. McAfee seems to be an antivirus
system that can block important settings / files from being placed in
your Windows XP. I would consider uninstalling the McAfee, clear out
McAfee's settings and consider re-installing McAfee.
