Data Entry Problem

After entering approximately 1,000 records or so, a data
entry problem arises where the entered data looks correct
upon entering and saving it, but then when the user gets
back into the record for updating purposes, the data in
some of the fields are garbled. When trying to update
these garbled fields, an error message "The search key was
not found in any record" appears and the database will not
allow the user to save the changes either directly in the
table or on the subform.

Does anyone have any idea of what may be happening?
