data backup question

I read a post in here a while back and unfortunately I had to reinstall my
OS and now I can't find it (even with google). Someone was looking for
software to selectively copy data from a harddrive to a portable drive,
software that would keep track of changes and only copy those changes
instead of making a full back up everytime. There were several programs
suggested by a few people in here that I wanted to try out, but now I can't
find the post. Basically I'm looking for a program that will compare two
folders that already share some of the same data and sync them so that they
both match. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Acronis True Image.

Second that. TI Home 2010 seems quite stable on Win7x64, has just the
right balance between usable features without being unnecessarily
bloated.

I use rsync to maintain a mirror backup: fast, reliable, and
very convenient. But don't rely totally on a mirror backup
if you value your data. If something damages a file in your
source, the change will propagate to your backup target and
now you have two copies of the borked file. Making an
occasional full backup of valuable data and keeping it long-
term is good insurance.
