Data Access Pages on SBS a good intranet solution?

Dave Carr

I have a small client that has no servers, no intranet,
but they've built an Access database that they'd like to
extend to remote users across their enterprise (who have
DSL connections). They would like an intranet.

I'm considering advising them to purchase Small Business
Server 2003, and modifying their Access forms to Data
Access Pages, and deploying it on the SBS so that all
(remote) users can update the (Access, or perhaps SQL) DB.

I have not used Data Access Pages before. Can anyone
advise me as to whether this is a good approach, what are
the pitfalls to avoid, how long it would take to convert
4 or 5 forms to DAPs and deploy, all that good stuff....

TIA!

Dave

Hi Dave,

Questions about Data Access Pages very rarely get answers here. There is a
newsgroup dedicated to the topic (microsoft.public.access.dataaccesspages)
but last time I looked, even in that newsgroup there were far more questions
than answers. My conclusion? Experienced Access developers do not use Data
Access Pages.
