My question is: Do you have to have Microsoft Access installed on your
machine to view and enter data into a Data Access Page?

I want to use a Data Access Page as an interview tool via internet or email.
The user will most likely not have Microsoft Access installed on their
machine. Will this still work?

Possibilities:
1. The data entered can go straight into the database, via web.
2. The Data Access Page can be saved on their computer and then sent back
to me as an email attachment, where I then upload their responses into the
database.

Will they be able to use my Data Access Pages without having Microsoft
Access on their machines?

The short answer is No, you don't have to have Access on a machine to use a
data access page. However, I don't know exactly how to set up an environment
like this. It is something I hope to get to do soon. From what I have read
so far, you would be able to have users update your database from a web site.

You don't have to have Access installed. You do have to
have a direct connection to the database.

It is unlikely that it will be useful for an Internet
or email user.

If you allow file access to your web server, someone may
trash your web server. DAP's are for Intranet, not Internet.

You can password protect your Intranet. It's called
VPN or Virtual Private Network. With VPN, Internet
users can use their Windows login name and password
to connect to your Intranet.
